A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
